Ohio’s Employment Discrimination FAQ

What counts as employment discrimination?

Employment discrimination occurs when an employer treats someone unfairly because of race, sex, age, disability, religion, national origin, or another protected trait. According to the Ohio Civil Rights Commission (OCRC), they received 4,091 charges of discrimination in their 2022 Fiscal Year (FY), with 77.4% of these charges regarding employment discrimination. From the United States Equal Opportunity for Employment Committee (EEOC) 2024 FY, 58.3% suits included Title VII (race, sex, religion, national origin) claims; 40.9% included ADA (disability) claims; and 9.8% included ADEA (age) claims.

Most importantly, the success rate for EEOC merit-case resolutions is 97%. That means that hiring a civil rights attorney to litigate or negotiate is nearly always successful.

Can I sue my employer for discrimination?

Yes. Any grounds of any sort of discrimination necessitates the needs for a civil rights attorney and a potential trial. A claim may be filed through the EEOC or OCRC. Contact us here for more information
